God's law is based on His own character, which is holy, just, and good. It shows us that our disobedience is sin, and the penalty for sin is death .

The people in Noah and Lot’s time were busy with life as usual and didn't heed the warnings. So it will be when Christ comes again, many will be too busy to see the warning signs or prepare spiritually.

My Comments on this verse

It is impossible for God to lie. Unlike us God cannot lie. The bible is full of God's promises which He must keep. However God's promises usually have conditions that must be met, i.e. if you do this, I will do that.
