Joel 2:28 King James Version (KJV)

28. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

The spirit of prophecy will be active before Jesus comes the 2nd time.

The purpose of the gift of prophecy is to edify other Christians.

1 Corinthians 14:1, 3-4 King James Version (KJV)

1. Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

3. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.



The devil is angry with those who have the spirit of prophecy, which is the testimony of Jesus.

Revelation 12:17 King James Version (KJV)

17. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.


Revelation 19:10 King James Version (KJV)

10. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
